The
Blackburn Rovers club was formed in 1875 following a meeting on
November 5th in the St. Leger Hotel on King William Street. The
meeting was organized by two old boys of Shrewsbury School, John
Lewis, and Arthur Constantine. The purpose of the meeting was to
discuss the possibility of forming a football club to play under
Association rules.
Based in the town of Blackburn, Lancashire, Blackburn Rovers Football
Club became a founder member of The Footbal League in 1888. In 1890,
the Rovers moved to their permanent home at Ewood Park.
Blackburn Rovers are one of only a few founders of not only The
Football League, but also The Premier League.
The Rovers have won the Premier League Championship once, League
Championships twice, and the FA Cup 6 times.
