Originally named Christ Church Football Club, the club was formed
in 1874 by the Vicar of Christ Church Sunday School, Bolton, when
he created an outdoor recreational club. In 1877, the club re-christened
themselves Bolton Wanderers. In 1888, the Bolton Wanderers were
one of the twelve founder members of the Football League.
Bolton currently play at the Reebok Stadium, Bolton, since 1997.
Their former stadium was the famous Burden Park.
Having remained in the Football League since its formation, Bolton
have spent more time in the top flight (Premier Division/old Division
1) than out of it. Bolton have been FA Cup Winners four times.
