Pelé
is a name associated with soccer the world over. And why shouldn’t
it be? Pelé is a soccer legend; many say that he is the best
soccer player ever to play the game. Pelé started from humble
beginnings. Raised by a poor family in Brazil, he first learned
the game of soccer from his father. No doubt his father did not
know at the time that he was lighting a fire that would burn forever
not just in the history of Brazilian soccer, but in the history
of soccer in general.
Pelé picked up the game quickly and was discovered at an
early age, at just 11, by one of Brazilian soccer’s premier
players. Pelé’s great skill has only greatened over
the years. He went on to play in four World Cups with Brazil’s
National Team. Pelé even scored six goals during the 1958
World Cup in Sweden – he was only 17 years-old.
Pelé went on to hold many records in both Brazilian soccer
and soccer throughout the world. The name “Pelé”
will stay associated with not just Brazilian soccer, but soccer
in general, for many years to come. It’s hard to think of
such an excellent player gracing the sport of soccer again.
Of course, Brazilian soccer is not just great because of Pelé
– he is only one player. It takes an entire team, playing
as one unit, to go ahead and win five World Cup Championships. Many
other excellent players are a part of Brazilian soccer, as well.
Roberto Carlos, Ronaldo, and Rivaldo are all also great Brazilian
soccer players who help light of the scoreboard during games. With
so many great players and games associated with Brazilian soccer,
it’s no wonder that the famous yellow and green jerseys can
be seen all over the world, not just in Brazil. Who doesn’t
want to don the jersey of a team that has won so much and done so
much for the sport of soccer?
