FC
Dallas is a Major League Soccer (MLS) franchise currently based
in northern Dallas, Texas. They were known as the Dallas Burn from
1996 to 2004. Since August 2005, the club has played in Pizza Hut
Park, a soccer-specific stadium in the northern suburb of Frisco.
In conjunction with the club’s move to Pizza Hut Park, the
Dallas Burn changed their name to FC Dallas, their current name.
Before then, they had played at the Cotton Bowl since their inception
except in 2003, which they spent at Dragon Stadium in Southlake.
In 1995, the Dallas Burn became a charter member of Major League
Soccer. In their nine years as members of MLS, the Burn were one
of the most consistent teams in the league. Dallas qualified for
the playoffs the first seven years of the team’s existence
and came within one game of advancing to MLS Cup on two occasions.
Since 2001, the FC Dallas and the Chicago Fire play for the Brimstone
Cup, which goes to the team that wins the season series between
the two clubs.
