Soccer is a sport that has been loved by sports players for over
a century. In the past few decades, soccer has gone beyond a mere
recreational activity, and now is both professional and an Olympic
sport. Soccer fans are loyal to their favorite teams, cheering from
the sidelines and playing their own games themselves.
The rules of soccer are revised annually, around July, by FIFA,
which is the governing body for the sport of soccer. Youth organizations
usually adjust these soccer rules to fit the children players. Such
adjustments include game lengths, field sizes, number of players
per teams, frequency of substitutions, etc.
Soccer positions are as follows:
· Forwards, Strikers, Wingers, Attackers
· Fullbacks, Defenders
· Midfielders
· Goalkeeper
· Stopper
· Sweeper
There are a few of the rules in soccer, declared by the FIFA and
other officials, on what coaches and spectators MAY NOT do. Here
are a few:
· Coaches may NOT come on the field (or step on the lines)
during the game except with the referee's permission.
· There should be no yelling or conversation between a coach
and the other team during the game.
· Coaches & spectators must stand on the sidelines &
cannot stand behind the end lines
After a soccer game has ended, soccer players and coaches typically
line up facing each other on the halfway line, walk past each other
and touch hands while saying, “Good game.” The coaches
are last in line and shake hands last in the soccer game. This soccer
tradition is a sportsman-like gesture and sets a good example.
