There are soccer camps for all different abilities and all different
ages. There are camps of varying lengths in most states and many
different countries. Going to a soccer camp can really improve your
game, but they are also great ways to socialize and meet new soccer-lovers.
Before deciding on which soccer camp is best for you are your child,
it is best to do your homework.
It is best to find a soccer camp that has great reviews. It is
even better if those great reviews come from someone you know --
you don’t have to verify that it really is good. It’s
a good idea to ask other players or parents about where they have
gone or where they’ve sent their kids to. Coaches can also
be a great source of information. Depending on how many years they’ve
been coaching, they have probably heard a few reviews of different
soccer camps from their players. You should also talk directly with
the camp director.
It is good to find out the soccer camp’s philosophy. Is it
competitive or noncompetitive? What level is it best for? Inquire
about the background of the counselors. You want to know what sort
of training and experience they have. If you are sending your child
to soccer camp, you want to make sure that the counselors are at
least 18 years-old and really know how the game of soccer works.
Know what you are getting yourself, or your child into. Check out
the daily schedule. You can that a soccer camp is run well if there
is a complete lesson plan rather than just a vague idea of drills
for who knows how longs.
Camps are usually held during the summer, and practice can go on
through the hottest part of the day, so you want to be sure that
water and refreshments are given out.
It is good to know that the camp fulfills generally soccer safety
rules. Make sure that they’ll require your child to wear her
shin guards. Make sure that they know to stake the goals properly.
When signing up for a soccer camp, you probably just want to sign
up for one week at a time. That way, there’s not as much loss
if you don’t like it. You can always sign up for more if you
really do think it helps you improve your soccer game.
