Soccer Equipment Before you start to play the game, it is important to have the proper soccer equipment. Coaches and referees as well as parents play a part in making sure their players have soccer equipment. Player need the right soccer equipment for safety, increased performance, and to cover the basic characteristics of the sport.

The necessary soccer equipment for the game is listed below.

1. Uniforms. Jerseys and shorts. These should be comfortable and lightweight. This category of soccer equipment often matches the team colors. Each player will have their own number displayed on their jersey.

2. Cleats (soccer shoes, or soccer boots). Choose the right pair for the playing surfaces, or turf, on which you will be playing soccer. Sizes are generally the same as regular shoes, but with a slightly narrower build for better control of the ball.

3. Goals. The whole point of the game is to score points, and you need goals to do that! Check with your league’s requirements on goal sizes.

4. Soccer balls. Of course, another essential item of soccer equipment for the game to proceed. There are different sizes on the market for different ages, so make sure to purchase the correct make.

5. Goalie uniform. The goalie always wears a differently colored jersey than the rest of the team, to be easily identified.

6. Goalie gloves. Because the goalie is the only member of the team allowed to touch the ball with his or her hands, this is an important soccer equipment item. The gloves help a goalie to grip and stop the ball better.

7. Whistles for the referees.
