Heart of Midlothian FC (SW)EDINBURGH, Jan 31 (SW) - Still looking
to chase down Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premier League table,
Hearts today captured four deadline day signings but also learned
striker Paul Hartley will be suspended for three games.
The Scottish FA disciplinary body determined Hartley kicked Celtic's
Ross Wallace in a loss on New Year's Day. The incident went unpunished
at the time by the referee, but television cameras caught the infraction
on tape.
He will, therefore, miss the cup tie against Aberdeen and league
fixtures against Motherwell and Livingston.
The big signing was the one everyone had anticipated as Bosnia-Herzegovina
winger Mirsad Beslija finally signed for the club after a lot of
technicalities had kept the player from doing so.
The deal to sign Beslija from Racing Genk is worth a club record
£850,000 and manager Graham Rix also signed HJK Helsinki forward
Juho Makela for three-and-a-half years. Makela was the second leading
scorer in the Finnish league last season.
Rix also added defender José Goncalves and midfielder Bruno
Aguiar on loan after both players signed deals with Lithuanian side
Kaunas.
