Maccabi Haifa will host Maccabi Petah Tikva, while Hapoel Kfar Sava
hosts Bnei Sakhnin in all-Premier League ties in the last eight
of the State Cup later this month.
Yesterday's draw gave giant killer Hakoah Amidar Ramat Gan, which
slayed Betar Jerusalem in the round of 16, a tough encounter at
home to Premier League high flyer Hapoel Tel Aviv.
Hapoel Acre, which provided the biggest upset of the previous round,
crushing Maccabi Tel Aviv 4-0, faces Bnei Yehuda, which required
extra time yesterday to get past third division Kafr Kana in a game
that was held over from the weekend.
In front of only 300 fans, Moshe Biton broke the deadlock on 97
minutes to take Bnei Yehuda through to the last eight.
Bnei Yehuda goalkeeper Vincent Enyema saved his team from embarrassment
shortly before the end of regular time when he dived to tip wide
a shot from Mahar Jabran.
Biton, who missed several opportunities in the game, said Kafr
Kana had been a tough opponent. "They didn't show great ability,
but they fought hard and made it difficult for us to score,"
Biton said.
The result meant that all of the round of 16 games were won by
visiting teams.
