According
to a report released today, Manchester United coach, Alex Ferguson,
is willing to listen to offers for Phil Neville as he looks to make
way for new players in his squad.
Alex Ferguson needs to find a solution to his midfield problem sooner
rather than later. It is becoming obvious as each season passes
by, that Roy Keane will not be around for ever, and with no obvious
replacement for him in the side, Ferguson is looking to raise funds
to bring in a successor.
With Essien looking like he will only go to Chelsea, and there
only being a slim chance of signing Michael Ballack, who has already
said he does not wish to join Man Utd, Ferguson may have to look
elsewhere.
The Red Devils boss has been experimenting with Alan Smith in the
holding midfield role during preseason, much to the bewilderment
of fans and pundits alike but would no doubt prefer someone better
suited to that position.
Newcastle and Middlesbrough are being tipped as the most likely
destination for Phil Neville, should Alex Ferguson accept a bid.
Sources in the media are suggesting he would cost around £3
million.
