Barcelona midfielder Mark van Bommel is assuring the fans that everything is under control, despite seeing their La Liga advantage over second place Valencia pared to six points over the last few weeks.

“Everything is still in our hands,” he told the club website. “The group is confident and relaxed.”

“We played badly last week against Atlético Madrid, but yesterday we played well (against Valencia).”

“We need a bit more luck in front of goal,” said Van Bommel, who doesn’t accept any leniency in criticism because the Catalans have undergone a small selection crisis recently.

“Absences are no excuse, we have a great squad”.
