While
Portsmouth reflect on two failed bids for Norwich midfielder Damien
Francis Wigan Athletic manager Paul Jewell is looking to hijack
the deal and with Norwich now seemingly resigned to losing the player
the two clubs are reported to have agreed on a fee.
The deal is by no means signed and sealed though with Jewell due
to meet the player on Monday to put the Latic’s offer to him
in an attempt to convince him that his immediate future lies at
the JJB stadium.
Francis signed for the Canaries from Wimbledon in August 2003 and
has scored seven goals in each of his two seasons at Carrow Road
making 71 appearances in the process plus another 2 on the bench.
The Wigan club web site has confirmed that they have had a bid
accepted.
Meanwhile Wigan continued their build up to their opening day game
with Chelsea by cruising past League Two Macclesfield by 4-0. Swedish
midfielder Andreas Johansson starred for the Latic’s at Moss
Rose, so Chelsea beware!!!!
